I’m finally back up and running after a record breaking snow storm hit the North East United States on October 29th. Our dog Shelby woke the family to let us a know a 70 foot tree had just uprooted itself in our yard and thankfully, missed hitting our deck by only a few inches. Out the window lights flashed and bounced off of the snow canopy in the sky, looking like the clouds were on fire. I got dressed and went outside with a flashlight to check for damage and was relieved to see that nothing was destroyed. Moments later, a bright flash and an electric boom signaled the beginning of a 36 hour stretch without power. Many in NH are on day 4 without power. Public Service of NH estimates that most should be fully restored by midnight on Friday 11/4.

The reason this storm had such an impact is because of how early in the season it arrived. A lot of the trees still had all of their leaves, which holds onto wet snow really well. Couple the weight of the wet snow + wind + semi-firm ground = and you get broken/uprooted trees everywhere.

I’m very thankful for the hard work of all the crews that have spent long hours away from their families in order to restore the power to ours.

Now, back to business as usual.

It’s been one of those weeks when bugs keep piling up in the queue, the task list seems endless, and there’s not enough time to even break for lunch let alone run any errands.

Fortunately, it’s also one of those weeks where almost everything is looking like it’s going to be wrapped up and fixed neatly by 5pm on Friday. I don’t know about you, but for me the weekend is so much more enjoyable when I can leave work feeling a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. This is one of those weeks!

Cheers!
